Which schools suit what your child loves?
Search for a sport, instrument, subject or worry to see which Brisbane schools people mention it at, and what they said. Tick up to three schools to compare them.
87 schools where people talk about careers and life after school.

How we work these numbers out
- Order. “Best match” puts schools where your exact word comes up first. “Most talked about” uses the share of reviews that mention it. Neither is a ranking of how good a school is.
- Comes up in X% of reviews is the share of the school's reviews that mention your search. The Brisbane average is the same share across all Brisbane schools.
- Speak well, mixed or raise concerns is worked out by software, using only the sentences about your search. It's right most of the time but not always, so read what people said.
- What students did comes from the sports and activities former students ticked in their review. We show it when at least 3 answered.
- Evidence is strong when 5 or more of at least 10 reviews mention it, some when 2 or more people do, and thin when only one person does.
- Facts such as fees, ATAR and enrolments come from each school's own documents. Fees cover different year levels at different schools, so compare carefully.
- Open Day Reflections come from our visits to 2026 open days. They're useful, but they reflect the school's own voice.

The school put a big focus on ATAR and uni pathways, so that side was well covered. However, I think there could’ve been more practical life skills taught — like budgeting, job interviews, or managing stress after school ends. It was a strong academic foundation, but real-world prep was a bit limited.

I chose these because I enjoyed writing and was interested in social issues, plus they worked well with my goal of getting into uni. I was also heavily involved in sport outside of class, which played a big role in my school life and helped with time management and discipline. I sometimes wish I’d picked Psychology instead of Biology, since I found it more relatable and easier to keep up with.

Review Balancing academics and wellbeing
I think that the school does an okay job, as they do provide counselling for students who are struggling with mental although the councillors do seem to have little to no effect, as previous students have said they are useless and don’t help at all.
Review The surrounding area and safety
There is a large issue with transport to school, as often there are highway congestion’s and heavy traffic before and after school times.

I was well prepared for university after high school. In fact, my first year at university felt like a breath of fresh air in comparison to my time at QASMT. For example, at QA, due to the IB, we had to undergo the CAS program. This meant that we were required to have creative hobbies (writing, art etc.), do activity (sports) and service (volunteering, charity work etc.) on top of school. This helped to enhance personal and interpersonal development in all areas rather than just academics, which aided in preparation for university. If you're able to make it through QA's rigorous program, you'll be prepared for life after high school!

My subjects were: English HL, Biology HL, Psychology HL, Maths AA SL, Chemistry SL and Japanese Ab Initio. I chose these subjects based on what I was good at and what I enjoyed. This was based off my previous grades and general interest. It also helped that the higher levels that I chose had some overlap- for example, some biology and psychology topics were the same, like neuroscience, so for me it was a good choice. However, I know some people strayed far away from that combination because biology and psychology HL were two subjects that were incredibly content-heavy and required a lot of memorisation. Ultimately, subject selection is all about playing to your strengths. If I could turn back time, I would've done AI SL instead of AA SL for maths. As a law student, I do not require a high level of maths. AA SL is more complex and difficult than AI SL but does not count as a "higher level" requirement. Therefore, as I didn't need AA SL as a prerequisite for my university degree, AI SL would probably have been a better option as it would be easier to get a good grade, which is what I needed. However, it is worth noting that unlike the current system that accepts students from Grade 7, when I arrived they only took Grade 10s, so I didn't have any chance to try out junior subjects that would have allowed me to make a more informed decision on what my subjects and higher levels should be.

By graduation, I felt reasonably prepared for the next steps, whether that was university or entering the workforce. The school provided career advice sessions and helped us with university applications, which was very useful. In terms of character, I learned a lot about perseverance and time management from balancing my workload and extracurricular activities. Teachers often encouraged us to work honestly and support each other, which helped foster a sense of integrity and teamwork. However, I think the school could have done more to teach practical life skills, like budgeting or managing stress, to better prepare us for independence.

In Grade 12, I chose Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Maths Methods, Accounting, and English. I picked these subjects because I’ve always been interested in STEM fields and wanted to keep my options open for university courses in science or business. Maths Methods and Chemistry were both challenging but rewarding, and I enjoyed the logical problem-solving involved. Accounting appealed to me because I wanted to understand how businesses operate financially and I found the most interesting and my favourite because of how applicable it is to the real world, analysing financial statements of companies to invest in..

Review Readiness for life after school
Honestly not prepared at all. The school wasn’t helpful in preparing us beyond school as when we picked our subjects for year 11 and 12 they told us not to worry about atar but ultimately lots of kids followed this advice and picked subjects based on what they enjoyed and couldn’t score a high enough atar to get into what they wanted.

Yes I wish I could’ve successfully changed out of my legal studies class to do accounting or chemistry as I am now struggling in uni as I didn’t take chemistry during school. Unfortunately the school isn’t very accomodating
Review Getting extra help
I think there was after school help on a few days with tutors from uni so they could get help from there, help from teachers honestly depends on how much they want to help because I know some teachers wouldn’t help outside of class time or say to study independently however if you had a good teacher sometimes they would start class 30mins early for anyone seeking extra help.
Review Bullying and getting to school safely
I wouldn’t say bullying was an issue at kg and I didn’t really see or experience, so I don’t think my opinion would be the best. I do know a few peers that changed schools because they experienced bullying so maybe the school doesn’t do a good job in mitigating bullying.
Review How the school works with parents
Unfortunately I don’t think I was invited to many school events, there might have been a few but I was always unable to attend due to my job and working 12 hours a day.
Review What we like and dislike
I like the fact that it is nearby because drop off and pick up is easy for me but before school and after school is a nightmare as it is so busy and the pickoff and drop off zone only fits 6 cars when there are over 300 cars waiting for their children.

I honestly was not prepared at all for Uni or life afterwards high school in general. I found that the school really lacked in informing students about preparing for the future.

Review Year 12 subject choices
I did English, Methods, Biology, Health and Japanese. I chose these subjects because I was aiming to get a specific ATAR to do the course I wanted in Uni. Additionally, I figured that biology and health would also help me in my future nursing studies. I do not wish I chose differently because I enjoyed each subject thoroughly.
