Which schools suit what your child loves?
Search for a sport, instrument, subject or worry to see which Brisbane schools people mention it at, and what they said. Tick up to three schools to compare them.
78 schools where people talk about “coding”.
Also counting related words: programming, robotics, digital technolog, computer science. Schools where “coding” itself comes up are listed first.

How we work these numbers out
- Order. “Best match” puts schools where your exact word comes up first. “Most talked about” uses the share of reviews that mention it. Neither is a ranking of how good a school is.
- Comes up in X% of reviews is the share of the school's reviews that mention your search. The Brisbane average is the same share across all Brisbane schools.
- Speak well, mixed or raise concerns is worked out by software, using only the sentences about your search. It's right most of the time but not always, so read what people said.
- What students did comes from the sports and activities former students ticked in their review. We show it when at least 3 answered.
- Evidence is strong when 5 or more of at least 10 reviews mention it, some when 2 or more people do, and thin when only one person does.
- Facts such as fees, ATAR and enrolments come from each school's own documents. Fees cover different year levels at different schools, so compare carefully.
- Open Day Reflections come from our visits to 2026 open days. They're useful, but they reflect the school's own voice.

I was well prepared for university after high school. In fact, my first year at university felt like a breath of fresh air in comparison to my time at QASMT. For example, at QA, due to the IB, we had to undergo the CAS program. This meant that we were required to have creative hobbies (writing, art etc.), do activity (sports) and service (volunteering, charity work etc.) on top of school. This helped to enhance personal and interpersonal development in all areas rather than just academics, which aided in preparation for university. If you're able to make it through QA's rigorous program, you'll be prepared for life after high school!

QASMT is a school where the experience greatly depends on your character. It is fast-paced, competitive and highly academic-focused. If you thrive in these environments and are disciplined and self-motivated, I would highly recommend QA to you. Not only are you surrounded by like-minded students whose focus is all on achieving good grades, which in turn motivates you to work harder, but the school provides an abundance of academic-based opportunities such as clubs and events to increase your knowledge. On the other hand, if you tend to procrastinate or are not very disciplined, QASMT will likely be more harmful than good. It is incredibly easy to fall behind on studies due to the difficult nature of the IB program, and I, along with many others, were burnt out and sleep-deprived, particularly in the senior years. The IB program demands much more than the ATAR system- we have to write an extended essay, do philosophy (TOK) and undergo the CAS (creativity, activity, service) program on top of the six regular subjects. Additionally, the subjects offered at QA are much more restricting than other schools. Ultimately, whether I recommend QASMT depends on the person. If you work well under high pressure and can stay on top of your studies, then I would recommend it as it provides an environment where you can shine. On the other hand, it is incredibly demanding and stressful, so if you struggle with procrastination or do not care much for academics, then QASMT is not for you (and that's okay!).
Review Coaching and chances to compete

We would go through skills and the coaches would offer help, but there was hardly any personalised coaching and it was more of a social club. I do believe, however, that there were also competitive teams which required tryouts and involved full-on training schedules and pushed for development. I can't speak much on this topic as I was not involved in it.

Indooroopilly State High School effectively balances academic rigor with student well-being and character development. The school offers programs like **Peer Support** and **Respectful Relationships** to foster qualities such as empathy and integrity. For example, annual community service initiatives (e.g., fundraising for local charities) encourage generosity. Teachers often integrate "life lessons" into subjects, such as discussing ethical dilemmas in Humanities. However, some students report stress during exam periods, suggesting room for enhanced mental health support

The school generally meets or exceeds academic expectations, particularly in STEM and arts. For instance, the **Enhanced Learning Program (ELP)** challenges high-achievers with advanced coursework, while vocational education (VET) provides practical pathways. Some students note uneven teaching quality in elective subjects, but overall, the school’s strong NAPLAN and ATAR results reflect its academic commitment.
Review Compared with other schools
Indooroopilly integrates technology well but could improve: Interactive whiteboards and BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) policies enhance learning. The Q parents app is nice although more training for parents on digital tools and upgrading Wi-Fi infrastructure Would be recommended.

Review What we like and dislike
I like the academic programs the school provides and the music and culture programs. I dislike the bullying system and child support the school gives.

My child was in the Mansfield basketball team and highly enjoyed it. The coach was extremely supportive and the team was extremely inclusive. It was one of my child’s favourite experiences during his high school journey.
Review What had the biggest impact
Great teachers and a motivating environment had the biggest impact on my school experience. Their support and dedication inspired my love for learning. Hands-on programs and real-world applications made education engaging. This experience taught me perseverance, the value of knowledge, and the importance of continuous self-improvement.

Review Experience of the sports program
My daughter enjoyed the school sports that she was involved in at school and felt it gave her a sense of community, but many of the team sports at state high were very competitive.

Yes, I would recommend that school to others because it provided a supportive learning environment, dedicated teachers, and a strong academic program. While no school is perfect, the overall experience helped me grow both academically and personally, and I believe others could benefit from the same environment.

Review Bullying and the social scene
The school's code of conduct has a chapter in Preventing and responding to bullying, including: Bullying response flowchart for teachers; Cyberbullying response flowchart for school staff; My child said the school environment is generally friendly and supportive. There is zero tolerance for bullying.

Review Experience of the sports program
They have an AFL Academy. They should have more sport teams though as there is not many.
Review Expectations versus reality
The school met my academic expectations. There were talks about the new school should be similar standard as Brisbane State high but I never expect it to be, since its students are mostly from the catchment. Only small proportion of students are through the selective entry program.

Review Chances to take part in the arts
The performance programs at the school were very good. They also provided other opportunities to get involved in the arts through the school musical such as tech work and set design/construction.

Review Getting extra help
During exam blocks, teachers in maths and science had after school tutoring available for students' pressing questions. English and humanities teachers were always keen to look over feedback and were always welcoming for students to discuss their work. Numeracy and literacy programs were available in year 11 to prepare us for year 12 Most importantly, teachers believed in their students. They knew when to be serious to tell us to get our head in the game, but also kind enough to be encouraging. They were all about student learning and always aimed to help out students in every aspect.
Review Subject range and curiosity
I think I've expressed my sentiment on extra curricular activities. The school did science showcase events, which i participated in. The school recently sent a student in a different cohort to Switzerland to explore the hadron collider and participate in a CERN program. Opportunities are there for students that want them. They also put there hand up for interschool maths competitions, events at universities, and many more.
Review Would you recommend it?
I would definitely recommend the school. I was the kind of student to do all kinds of extra curricular activities and the school had provided plenty of opportunities for all kinds of students. Their performance plus program and participation into CGEN competitions is a great creative outlet for arts students to develop their talents and gain exposure to industry and community. The school is also a regular sporting competitor at the state level, and has a competitive spirit that cannot be ignored across all sports programs. I was part of the basketball team, and have seen students excel in athletics, swimming, rugby, touch football and many more. The school has also welcomed a serious chess program, with mentors, a FIDE master, and chess teachers paving the way for students to get better at the game. Students have also regularly placed in district competitions and are fighting their way through higher level comps. The school has an outstanding debating and public speaking endeavour. I have adjudicated and competed at the national level, and have placed in competitions by the english speaking union and U.N youth.
Review Chances to take part in the arts
The performance plus programs was the avenue for students to foster their talents, and was open to students for auditions and rehearsals. Musicians THRIVE at the school. Filmmakers and backstage crew get great creative opportunities. The dance program is gradually growing. Visual arts are also slowly getting the centenary name out to the community. There is an even split of resources to each program, and students and staff work together to build up talents and repertoire.
