How we work these numbers out
- Order. “Best match” puts schools where your exact word comes up first. “Most talked about” uses the share of reviews that mention it. Neither is a ranking of how good a school is.
- Comes up in X% of reviews is the share of the school's reviews that mention your search. The Brisbane average is the same share across all Brisbane schools.
- Speak well, mixed or raise concerns is worked out by software, using only the sentences about your search. It's right most of the time but not always, so read what people said.
- What students did comes from the sports and activities former students ticked in their review. We show it when at least 3 answered.
- Evidence is strong when 5 or more of at least 10 reviews mention it, some when 2 or more people do, and thin when only one person does.
- Facts such as fees, ATAR and enrolments come from each school's own documents. Fees cover different year levels at different schools, so compare carefully.
- Open Day Reflections come from our visits to 2026 open days. They're useful, but they reflect the school's own voice.

I believe they focus very heavily on academics which can sometimes be a detriment to students mental health and well being, but there were support networks in place like guidance conscellors and such as school.

Overall, bullying rates at the school are quite low due to the large percentage of students being too busy focusing on their academics. However, in the instances when bullying does occur the school has a really good system of house deans/councillors which takes bullying very seriously, and works fast to mitigate the situation. The system that the school employs takes the students concerns very seriously, so bullying is never a big issue. As well as bullying, the school also takes mental health issues very seriously and the house deans/councillors are all very supportive and attentive to student concerns and problems. The Toowong area is also quite safe, as the surrounding areas are just suburban houses. Unless you are crossing illegally on moggil road, the school is not located near any suspicious people/areas and is generally really safe.

Review Balancing academics and wellbeing
I think that the school does an okay job, as they do provide counselling for students who are struggling with mental although the councillors do seem to have little to no effect, as previous students have said they are useless and don’t help at all.

Indooroopilly State High School effectively balances academic rigor with student well-being and character development. The school offers programs like **Peer Support** and **Respectful Relationships** to foster qualities such as empathy and integrity. For example, annual community service initiatives (e.g., fundraising for local charities) encourage generosity. Teachers often integrate "life lessons" into subjects, such as discussing ethical dilemmas in Humanities. However, some students report stress during exam periods, suggesting room for enhanced mental health support

Review Balancing academics and wellbeing
I think the school tries to balance academics with well-being, but sometimes the focus on results can overshadow the support for students’ mental and emotional health. It could do more to ensure that students aren’t just academically prepared but also supported in other areas of their development.

I had so many amazing teachers that really went out of their way to make sure everyone had a good learning experience. They would volunteer their personal time to set up practice exam sessions and consultations. The teachers took time to notice the people in their class and what might help them. Review Would you recommend it?
…crowded closer to exam Weekes with only one teacher to share. I would not recommend because they do not offer all the senior subjects that other larger schools with more students who are interested in academia would have like engineering or literature. They have little academic support for senior students only having sessions once a week for tutorials in which also get crowded closer to exam Weekes with only one teacher to share. However they do offer guidance counselling and career counselling to all senior students in order to make sure that they can maximise their studies. Yet I don’t think it is significant enough to be a reason to choose the school in particular.

Review Balancing academics and wellbeing
Yes I think the school does. They have many policies on stopping bullying and showing respect to everyone, no matter grade or gender or what. My son has built a respectable character over the years and I attribute some of it to his schooling.

Review Bullying and getting to school safely
Bullying was an issue at times in the school, especially in the lower grades, but the school made efforts to address it through anti-bullying campaigns, counseling support, and encouraging students to speak up. Teachers were generally responsive when incidents were reported, although not every situation was resolved perfectly.

Review Readiness for life after school
…talk about their life experiences and I learnt valuable lessons about financial and mental wellbeing and stress and work management. My teachers often felt a lot like mentors rather than unknown lecturers, and thanks to them, I graduated highschool with confidence, prepared for whatever came next. Read all
I felt extremely prepared for life after highschool. Thanks to my teachers, I not only had the academic knowledge I needed to succeed at university and enter my desired career, but plenty of valuable life advice and practical knowledge that they imparted to me. There were many lunchtimes and lessons where my teachers would talk about their life experiences and I learnt valuable lessons about financial and mental wellbeing and stress and work management. My teachers often felt a lot like mentors rather than unknown lecturers, and thanks to them, I graduated highschool with confidence, prepared for whatever came next.
Reviews come from parents and former students whose link to the school we've checked. Open Day Reflections come from our recordings at 2026 open days. Words in [brackets] were unclear, and […] marks a skipped part. They reflect the school's own voice, so read them alongside the reviews. How reviews work
