How we work these numbers out
  • Order. “Best match” puts schools where your exact word comes up first. “Most talked about” uses the share of reviews that mention it. Neither is a ranking of how good a school is.
  • Comes up in X% of reviews is the share of the school's reviews that mention your search. The Brisbane average is the same share across all Brisbane schools.
  • Speak well, mixed or raise concerns is worked out by software, using only the sentences about your search. It's right most of the time but not always, so read what people said.
  • What students did comes from the sports and activities former students ticked in their review. We show it when at least 3 answered.
  • Evidence is strong when 5 or more of at least 10 reviews mention it, some when 2 or more people do, and thin when only one person does.
  • Facts such as fees, ATAR and enrolments come from each school's own documents. Fees cover different year levels at different schools, so compare carefully.
  • Open Day Reflections come from our visits to 2026 open days. They're useful, but they reflect the school's own voice.

Review Bullying and getting to school safely

Bullying was an issue at times in the school, especially in the lower grades, but the school made efforts to address it through anti-bullying campaigns, counseling support, and encouraging students to speak up. Teachers were generally responsive when incidents were reported, although not every situation was resolved perfectly.

Review Bullying and getting to school safely

Bullying was an issue, I experienced it first hand and ended up getting the person bullying me suspended but only to have the rest of his friend group bully me and admin didn't believe until i had evidence which took weeks to get so therefore, i had to endure the bullying for many more weeks without intervention. The school was located in a pretty busy area. There was always school traffic and even in the drop off zones, you had to wait till it was safe enough to be dropped off. School couldn't really do much about it in the mornings, but in the afternoons there was teachers looking out for the kids, but only looked after the safety of kids taking the bus and not kids getting picked up by parents. Sometimes kids would have to cross the street, some nearly getting hit, but teachers didn't look out for them, not even a glance to see if they were crossing the street okay.

    Review Camps and excursions

My favourite memory from a school camp was the night we sat around the campfire, sharing stories and laughing under the stars. It was a moment where students from different grades and backgrounds came together, and for once, there were no cliques or pressure—just a genuine sense of connection.

Review Readiness for life after school

Didn't feel prepared at all. There were a lot of skills that myself and my peers had to learn in our first year of university that we were not even aware about. Teachers didn't discuss the options we had after high school in detail and a lot of important information was left out. Felt very unstable going into my first year. School didn't do well at preparing other students character as some of them were bullies, which the school enabled, excessive use of foul language, dishonesty and the list goes on.

    Review Would you recommend it?

I would recommend this school to students more interested in sports and arts rather than academics. There is a lack of attention towards the academic side of teaching, with some teachers teaching in more than one subject, sometimes with the subjects having no correlation to each other (e.g. drama & science). Not saying that the teachers or teaching faculty is bad, it could be better. The school is known for its excellence programs in sports like rugby and netball and in the arts like dance and drama, so go to wavell if that seems more your speed. The overall experience wasn't bad, but myself and my peers did experience bullying, racism, saw violence occur on campus and there was minimal help from administration to resolve these issues, therefore these things remained an issues for years.

Review Something only students would know

There wasn't anything that only wavell students would know as the wavell students were not close at all and was a school full of cliques. A very disconnected community of people with the school not really holding anything that encourages connection among the whole community.
