How we work these numbers out
  • Order. “Best match” puts schools where your exact word comes up first. “Most talked about” uses the share of reviews that mention it. Neither is a ranking of how good a school is.
  • Comes up in X% of reviews is the share of the school's reviews that mention your search. The Brisbane average is the same share across all Brisbane schools.
  • Speak well, mixed or raise concerns is worked out by software, using only the sentences about your search. It's right most of the time but not always, so read what people said.
  • What students did comes from the sports and activities former students ticked in their review. We show it when at least 3 answered.
  • Evidence is strong when 5 or more of at least 10 reviews mention it, some when 2 or more people do, and thin when only one person does.
  • Facts such as fees, ATAR and enrolments come from each school's own documents. Fees cover different year levels at different schools, so compare carefully.
  • Open Day Reflections come from our visits to 2026 open days. They're useful, but they reflect the school's own voice.

    Review Year 12 subject choices

General English, General Maths, Legal Studies, Ancient History, Drama, Music. I also did Philosophy through distance ed as an additional subject. I wish I could have done Modern History instead of Music, but there wasn't enough interest.

    Review Subject range and curiosity

Subject choices, no. I ended up taking two subjects I didn't really want to because three subjects I wanted to take weren't offered (psychology, philosophy and modern history), plus no languages offered. In terms of extracurriculars, there was a pretty wide range of options, which I appreciated.

    Review Year 12 subject choices

I chose general English, specialist math, mathematics methods, business, biology, and chemistry. I do not regret choosing the subjects I did because it gave me what I wanted out of the subjects and so if I was to redo grade 12 I wouldn’t choose differently. I would choose the same subjects.

    Review Subject range and curiosity

I don’t think that the school offered enough subject choices because whilst many other schools offered literature and physical education. Rochedale did not offer either of these the four students had to take these lessons through a distance education which the school did help facilitate. Have some students raise concerns about the quality of education compared to if they were to do these lessons in person and said that they may feel disadvantaged as well.

    Review Getting extra help

If a student was struggling in a core subject, support varied depending on their teacher. some teachers were more available unhappy to help whilst others why not as open and friendly. Although if a student was failing, they would be forced to attend tutorials and would not. We’re not allowed to go home during sports on Wednesdays.

    Review Would you recommend it?

I would not recommend because they do not offer all the senior subjects that other larger schools with more students who are interested in academia would have like engineering or literature. They have little academic support for senior students only having sessions once a week for tutorials in which also get crowded closer to exam Weekes with only one teacher to share. However they do offer guidance counselling and career counselling to all senior students in order to make sure that they can maximise their studies. Yet I don’t think it is significant enough to be a reason to choose the school in particular.
