How we work these numbers out
- Order. “Best match” puts schools where your exact word comes up first. “Most talked about” uses the share of reviews that mention it. Neither is a ranking of how good a school is.
- Comes up in X% of reviews is the share of the school's reviews that mention your search. The Brisbane average is the same share across all Brisbane schools.
- Speak well, mixed or raise concerns is worked out by software, using only the sentences about your search. It's right most of the time but not always, so read what people said.
- What students did comes from the sports and activities former students ticked in their review. We show it when at least 3 answered.
- Evidence is strong when 5 or more of at least 10 reviews mention it, some when 2 or more people do, and thin when only one person does.
- Facts such as fees, ATAR and enrolments come from each school's own documents. Fees cover different year levels at different schools, so compare carefully.
- Open Day Reflections come from our visits to 2026 open days. They're useful, but they reflect the school's own voice.

Review How the school works with parents
The school has been fairly engaged with parents through regular newsletters, parent-teacher meetings, and school events, which keeps us in the loop. When it comes to responding to queries or complaints, they are generally responsive, though there have been times when follow-ups could be quicker. It would be helpful if they could establish more consistent communication channels, perhaps with a more streamlined process for handling concerns.

Review The parent community
Yes, there is definitely a close-knit community of parents at Forest Lake. Many parents get to know each other through school events, volunteer opportunities, and informal gatherings, which helps create a sense of community. While some families are more independent, I’ve found that most parents enjoy connecting and supporting each other in a friendly, welcoming environment.
Review How the school works with parents
The school has been very proactive in engaging with parents through regular meetings, events, and newsletters, which help keep us informed and involved. They are responsive to parent queries and complaints, addressing concerns quickly and effectively. One suggestion for improvement would be to offer more virtual options for busy parents who can’t always attend in person, to ensure everyone has the chance to participate.
Review The parent community
Yes, there’s definitely a close-knit community of parents at the school. Many parents know each other through events, volunteer opportunities, and just regular interactions at drop-off or pick-up times. While some parents are more independent, there’s a strong sense of support and connection among those who actively get involved.
Review What we like and dislike
What I like most about Forest Lake State High is the supportive community and the focus on individual growth, both academically and personally. I also appreciate the variety of extracurricular activities available, which allows my daughter to explore different interests. On the flip side, what I dislike is how sometimes communication with the school administration can be a bit slow, making it hard to get quick answers when needed.
Review Compared with other schools
The school does a great job integrating technology into classroom learning, using tools like interactive whiteboards, learning apps, and online resources to enhance lessons. Communication with parents is also streamlined through platforms like emails, online portals, and apps that keep us updated on grades, events, and important notices. One suggestion for improvement would be to have more live virtual updates or webinars, especially for busy parents who can’t attend in person.
