How we work these numbers out
  • Order. “Best match” puts schools where your exact word comes up first. “Most talked about” uses the share of reviews that mention it. Neither is a ranking of how good a school is.
  • Comes up in X% of reviews is the share of the school's reviews that mention your search. The Brisbane average is the same share across all Brisbane schools.
  • Speak well, mixed or raise concerns is worked out by software, using only the sentences about your search. It's right most of the time but not always, so read what people said.
  • What students did comes from the sports and activities former students ticked in their review. We show it when at least 3 answered.
  • Evidence is strong when 5 or more of at least 10 reviews mention it, some when 2 or more people do, and thin when only one person does.
  • Facts such as fees, ATAR and enrolments come from each school's own documents. Fees cover different year levels at different schools, so compare carefully.
  • Open Day Reflections come from our visits to 2026 open days. They're useful, but they reflect the school's own voice.

Review Coaching and chances to compete

The school didn’t usually offer these but they were very supportive and even have times where they will actually show others these sports

    Review Support for elite athletes

Bayside put a lot of emphasis on sport scholarships, and would often support students as much as possible, I know that a handful of students ended up going to America on sports scholarships that the school had been coordinating and helping them with

Review Coaching and chances to compete

Brisbane Bayside State College's programs have helped students, myself included, with chances to compete in school teams and at higher levels. Inter-school sports has always been popular, and higher level sports teams have been successful for sports such as Volleyball, Basketball, Oz-Tag and Futsal. For all of the mentioned sports, there has always been ongoing training to enhance the students playing abilities.

    Review Would you recommend it?

I would definitely recommend Brisbane bayside to others. Brisbane bayside is a smaller highschool which meant that there were far more opportunities for students such as sports, tutoring, extracurricular activities. Additionally there’s something for everyone, for example bayside offers stem programs academic excellence programs, sport extension programs. Although bayside has gotten a bad rep due to the area it is in there were never any issues for the students and overall it was a very good highschool experience for me.

    Review Inclusion and bullying

I think bayside still has room for improvement but I think in general they are very accommodating for everyone. My little brother has cerebral palsy and bayside were very accommodating to him, an example I have is that they adapted parts of the sports excellence program to allow him to play disability friendly sports as well as introducing these sports to other kids, I know they have been accommodating like this in the past as well. Bullying wasn’t an issue when I was going and in general most people got along

    Review Year 12 subject choices

I chose General English, Math Methods, PED, Psychology, Physics and Certificate III in Fitness. I chose a mix of academic related and sports related subjects, as they both were fun, interactive and generally interesting.

Review Something only students would know

The sport house group named 'Dabobila' is the worst in terms of performance. They rarely ever win anything, and everyone in the school knows it. Its a recurring joke.
